About the Star ST6178
The Star ST6178 is a men's plastic frame fitted with spring hinges for flexibility and durability. This frame is designed for men seeking a sturdy everyday option.
This frame comes in one size: 57-18-146 mm, with a lens height of 42 mm. The 57 mm lens width is wide, while the 18 mm bridge is average for this lens width, and the 146 mm temples are standard length. If your current glasses have lenses smaller than 57 mm across, these will feel noticeably larger on your face.
Order the frame on its own or add prescription lenses made in our U.S. lab: single vision, OmniLux® NAL® lenses or progressives, and prescription sunglasses with Transitions®, tinted or polarized lenses. Free U.S. shipping on every order with prescription lenses.
Frequently asked questions
Which size is the ST6178?
It comes in one size, 57-18-146. If the first number on the temple of your current glasses is 55–59 mm, it will fit you in a similar way.
Is the ST6178 good for progressive lenses?
The lens height is 42 mm. That is deep, so there is plenty of room for progressive, OmniLux® NAL® and iLux™ lenses.
What are spring hinges?
A small spring in the hinge lets the temple flex outward slightly, which reduces pressure at the sides of your head and helps the frame last.
If you already own a pair of glasses, you'll find numbers engraved on the inside of the eyewear temple. These numbers indicate the following:
LENSWIDTH (A)—
BRIDGEWIDTH (DBL)—
TEMPLELENGTH—
LENSHEIGHT (B)—
The first number is the lens width followed by the bridge width. The third number represents the temple length, or the measurement of the arms of your frame. In some cases there may be a fourth number that indicates the lens height. Measurements in mm.
