About the Smilen Elite 17
The Smilen Elite 17 is a women's round frame made from acetate with a full rim design. The round shape works well for angular face shapes, and the frame includes spring hinges for flexibility at the temples.
This frame comes in one size: 52-17-142, with a lens height of 41mm. The 52mm lens width falls on the narrow side of regular, and the 17mm bridge is average for this lens width. To compare with glasses you already own, check the three numbers printed on the inside of your temple arm.
Order the frame on its own or add prescription lenses made in our U.S. lab: single vision, OmniLux® NAL® lenses or progressives, and prescription sunglasses with Transitions®, tinted or polarized lenses. Free U.S. shipping on every order with prescription lenses.
Frequently asked questions
Which size is the 17?
It comes in one size, 52-17-142. If the first number on the temple of your current glasses is 50–54 mm, it will fit you in a similar way.
Is the 17 good for progressive lenses?
The lens height is 41 mm. That is deep, so there is plenty of room for progressive, OmniLux® NAL® and iLux™ lenses.
What are spring hinges?
A small spring in the hinge lets the temple flex outward slightly, which reduces pressure at the sides of your head and helps the frame last.
Prescription lens options for the Smilen Elite 17
OmniLux® NAL®
– next-gen no-line multifocal lenses, exclusive to BestNewGlasses.com.
Single vision
– one prescription across the whole lens, for distance or reading.
Progressive
– a smooth change from distance to reading with no visible line.
iLux™
– adaptive multifocal lenses powered by NAL® technology, ordered like a progressive.
If you already own a pair of glasses, you'll find numbers engraved on the inside of the eyewear temple. These numbers indicate the following:
LENSWIDTH (A)—
BRIDGEWIDTH (DBL)—
TEMPLELENGTH—
LENSHEIGHT (B)—
The first number is the lens width followed by the bridge width. The third number represents the temple length, or the measurement of the arms of your frame. In some cases there may be a fourth number that indicates the lens height. Measurements in mm.
