About the New Balance NB549
The New Balance NB549 is a men's rectangular frame with a full rim design and regular hinges. The rectangular shape works well for those with round or oval face shapes.
This frame measures 59-17-150: the lens width is 59mm (very wide), the bridge is 17mm (average for this lens width), and the temples are 150mm (long). The very wide lenses provide substantial coverage, while the average bridge spacing fits most nose widths proportionally. If your current glasses feel narrow across the front or the temples don't reach comfortably behind your ears, this larger frame may fit better.
Order the frame on its own or add prescription lenses made in our U.S. lab: single vision, OmniLux® NAL® lenses or progressives, and prescription sunglasses with Transitions®, tinted or polarized lenses. Free U.S. shipping on every order with prescription lenses.
Frequently asked questions
Which size is the NB549?
It comes in one size, 59-17-150. If the first number on the temple of your current glasses is 57–61 mm, it will fit you in a similar way.
Is the NB549 good for progressive lenses?
Yes. Progressive, OmniLux® NAL® and iLux™ lenses can be made in this frame. If you would like us to confirm the fit for your prescription, contact us before you order.
What colors does the NB549 come in?
It is offered in 3 colors; the product page shows which are available now.
If you already own a pair of glasses, you'll find numbers engraved on the inside of the eyewear temple. These numbers indicate the following:
LENSWIDTH (A)—
BRIDGEWIDTH (DBL)—
TEMPLELENGTH—
LENSHEIGHT (B)—
The first number is the lens width followed by the bridge width. The third number represents the temple length, or the measurement of the arms of your frame. In some cases there may be a fourth number that indicates the lens height. Measurements in mm.
