About the New Balance NBK131
The New Balance NBK131 is a full rim rectangular frame designed for kids, equipped with spring hinges. The rectangular shape provides a classic, structured look suitable for children's faces.
This frame measures 51-15-140 mm (lens width-bridge-temple). The 51 mm lens width falls on the narrow side of regular, while the 15 mm bridge is narrow for this lens width, meaning the frame will sit closer on the nose than many other glasses with similar lens size. The 140 mm temple length is standard. To check fit, compare these measurements to the numbers printed on the inside of your child's current glasses.
Order the frame on its own or add prescription lenses made in our U.S. lab: single vision, OmniLux® NAL® lenses or progressives, and prescription sunglasses with Transitions®, tinted or polarized lenses. Free U.S. shipping on every order with prescription lenses.
Frequently asked questions
Which size is the NBK131?
It comes in one size, 51-15-140. If the first number on the temple of your current glasses is 49–53 mm, it will fit you in a similar way.
Is the NBK131 good for progressive lenses?
Yes. Progressive, OmniLux® NAL® and iLux™ lenses can be made in this frame. If you would like us to confirm the fit for your prescription, contact us before you order.
What are spring hinges?
A small spring in the hinge lets the temple flex outward slightly, which reduces pressure at the sides of your head and helps the frame last.
If you already own a pair of glasses, you'll find numbers engraved on the inside of the eyewear temple. These numbers indicate the following:
LENSWIDTH (A)—
BRIDGEWIDTH (DBL)—
TEMPLELENGTH—
LENSHEIGHT (B)—
The first number is the lens width followed by the bridge width. The third number represents the temple length, or the measurement of the arms of your frame. In some cases there may be a fourth number that indicates the lens height. Measurements in mm.
