About the New Balance NBK186
The New Balance NBK186 is a full rim metal frame in an oval shape, designed for kids. The 180 degree hinges allow the temples to fold flat in both directions for flexible wear and storage.
This frame comes in one size: 50-20-140, where 50mm is the lens width, 20mm is the bridge width, and 140mm is the temple length. The 50mm lens width falls on the narrow side of regular, while the 20mm bridge is wide for this lens width, meaning the frame will sit farther from the face than other glasses with 50mm lenses. Compare these measurements to a pair your child currently wears to determine fit.
Order the frame on its own or add prescription lenses made in our U.S. lab: single vision, OmniLux® NAL® lenses or progressives, and prescription sunglasses with Transitions®, tinted or polarized lenses. Free U.S. shipping on every order with prescription lenses.
Frequently asked questions
Which size is the NBK186?
It comes in one size, 50-20-140. If the first number on the temple of your current glasses is 48–52 mm, it will fit you in a similar way.
Is the NBK186 good for progressive lenses?
Yes. Progressive, OmniLux® NAL® and iLux™ lenses can be made in this frame. If you would like us to confirm the fit for your prescription, contact us before you order.
What colors does the NBK186 come in?
It is offered in 3 colors; the product page shows which are available now.
If you already own a pair of glasses, you'll find numbers engraved on the inside of the eyewear temple. These numbers indicate the following:
LENSWIDTH (A)—
BRIDGEWIDTH (DBL)—
TEMPLELENGTH—
LENSHEIGHT (B)—
The first number is the lens width followed by the bridge width. The third number represents the temple length, or the measurement of the arms of your frame. In some cases there may be a fourth number that indicates the lens height. Measurements in mm.
