About the Smilen Elite 40
The Smilen Elite 40 is a men's rectangular frame made from stainless steel with a full rim design. Spring hinges allow the temples to flex outward for added durability and comfort.
This frame measures 60-14-145 mm (lens width-bridge width-temple length). The 60 mm lens width is very wide, while the 14 mm bridge is narrow for this lens width. To compare with glasses you already own, check the three numbers printed on the inside of the temple.
Order the frame on its own or add prescription lenses made in our U.S. lab: single vision, OmniLux® NAL® lenses or progressives, and prescription sunglasses with Transitions®, tinted or polarized lenses. Free U.S. shipping on every order with prescription lenses.
Frequently asked questions
Which size is the 40?
It comes in one size, 60-14-145. If the first number on the temple of your current glasses is 58–62 mm, it will fit you in a similar way.
Is the 40 good for progressive lenses?
Yes. Progressive, OmniLux® NAL® and iLux™ lenses can be made in this frame. If you would like us to confirm the fit for your prescription, contact us before you order.
What are spring hinges?
A small spring in the hinge lets the temple flex outward slightly, which reduces pressure at the sides of your head and helps the frame last.
Prescription lens options for the Smilen Elite 40
OmniLux® NAL®
– next-gen no-line multifocal lenses, exclusive to BestNewGlasses.com.
Single vision
– one prescription across the whole lens, for distance or reading.
Progressive
– a smooth change from distance to reading with no visible line.
iLux™
– adaptive multifocal lenses powered by NAL® technology, ordered like a progressive.
If you already own a pair of glasses, you'll find numbers engraved on the inside of the eyewear temple. These numbers indicate the following:
LENSWIDTH (A)—
BRIDGEWIDTH (DBL)—
TEMPLELENGTH—
LENSHEIGHT (B)—
The first number is the lens width followed by the bridge width. The third number represents the temple length, or the measurement of the arms of your frame. In some cases there may be a fourth number that indicates the lens height. Measurements in mm.
