About the Smilen Elite 36
The Smilen Elite 36 is a men's rectangular frame made from acetate with a full rim design. Spring hinges allow the temples to flex outward for added comfort and durability.
This frame measures 57-15-145 (lens width-bridge-temple in millimeters). The 57mm lens width is wide, while the 15mm bridge is narrow for this lens width, meaning the frame sits closer at the nose than most glasses with lenses this wide. The 145mm temples are standard length.
Order the frame on its own or add prescription lenses made in our U.S. lab: single vision, OmniLux® NAL® lenses or progressives, and prescription sunglasses with Transitions®, tinted or polarized lenses. Free U.S. shipping on every order with prescription lenses.
Frequently asked questions
Which size is the 36?
It comes in one size, 57-15-145. If the first number on the temple of your current glasses is 55–59 mm, it will fit you in a similar way.
Is the 36 good for progressive lenses?
Yes. Progressive, OmniLux® NAL® and iLux™ lenses can be made in this frame. If you would like us to confirm the fit for your prescription, contact us before you order.
What are spring hinges?
A small spring in the hinge lets the temple flex outward slightly, which reduces pressure at the sides of your head and helps the frame last.
Prescription lens options for the Smilen Elite 36
OmniLux® NAL®
– next-gen no-line multifocal lenses, exclusive to BestNewGlasses.com.
Single vision
– one prescription across the whole lens, for distance or reading.
Progressive
– a smooth change from distance to reading with no visible line.
iLux™
– adaptive multifocal lenses powered by NAL® technology, ordered like a progressive.
If you already own a pair of glasses, you'll find numbers engraved on the inside of the eyewear temple. These numbers indicate the following:
LENSWIDTH (A)—
BRIDGEWIDTH (DBL)—
TEMPLELENGTH—
LENSHEIGHT (B)—
The first number is the lens width followed by the bridge width. The third number represents the temple length, or the measurement of the arms of your frame. In some cases there may be a fourth number that indicates the lens height. Measurements in mm.
